After several years of freezing, at the end of 2018, the parliamentary salary was EUR 1961. So far, the President has received a gross monthly salary of EUR 7844. To this amount are added the flat-rate compensation of EUR 1327.76 per month. However, at the end of the year, MEPs did not support the freezing of salaries again. This will also increase the basis for calculating the President's salary. After the new one, the president should earn approximately EUR 9600 per month.
Since the salary of the constitutional officials is always calculated on the basis of the average wage for the past year, which is recalculated in April, the basic salary of the new president will be even higher, and could slightly exceed ten thousand euros.
